Wales-vs-England-Bale

France is about to be hit by a ‘British derby’ as England and Wales will face-off in a Group B encounter in the 2016 European Championship. This is the second match for both the sides and it will be played at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis in Lens on Thursday, June 16th. England has one point from a disappointing draw against Russia while Wales announced their return to the European stage with a win over Slovakia.

Roy Hodgson brought one of the youngest squads to France and he hoped that the youthful exuberance will help erase the dubious record of not winning any of their opening fixtures in Euros. It was not to be, as the team struggled to convert dominance into goals and eventually ended up gifting a goal and a point to Russia in added time.

Wayne Rooney was the standout performer for England by mastering the midfield in his new role. Only when he was substituted late in the game – a strange decision by Hodgson – did Russia come back into the game. Eric Dier who scored the goal for England was impressive in his role ahead of the defenders. But England will hope for more from their in-form striker Harry Kane.

Wales were playing their first international tournament in 58 years and looked determined to make up for the lost time as they crafted a 2-1 win over Slovakia. Gareth Bale and Hal Robson-Kanu were the goal scorers for Wales but it was their work ethic and determination that stood out in the game. Chris Coleman will hope that goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey can recover in time from the back spasm to start against England.

England has won seven of their previous ten matches International matches and they have scored at least once in each of their last seven encounters but they have conceded in five of their last six matches. Wales have a poor record with just two wins of their last eight matches and have conceded at least one goal in their last five encounters.

Taking this into account, backing both teams to find their way onto the score sheet at odds of 2.1 with William Hill is a great bet. Another exciting bet could be on Bale being a goal scorer anytime in the game at odds of 2.9 with William Hill.

Can Bale help Wales script their first ever victory over England? Or will England get back on track with a win? Will the off-field focus on crowd behavior mar the on-field action? So many questions and all set to find answers on Thursday night.
