Super-Rugby-Waratahs-vs-Force-Round-9

The 2016 Super Rugby season continues this weekend, as round 9 will have eight matches being played. Continue reading as we take a look at the biggest matches with the best value and offer our Super Rugby Round 9 betting tips.

Rebels vs Cheetahs (Friday 7.45pm AEST)

The Rebels will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing loss against the hurricanes last weekend. They headed into the match with a lot of confidence after defeating the Waratahs a week earlier. The side didn’t show the same attack they had been able to demonstrate the week earlier as they continually dropped the ball and they weren’t clicking. Meanwhile their defence was cracked far too easily as the Hurricanes scored six tries against the home side.

The Cheetahs will enter the match on the back of their biggest win in Super Rugby history as they scored the second most points by any team. They crossed the white line on 14 occasions as the Sunwolves hit their lowest point in their inaugural season. The Cheetahs were dominant throughout the entire match but as they head on the road this weekend to Australian soil it will be a different story. The Cheetahs won’t be able to have the same impact and force as many line breaks as the Rebels will be focusing on defence after their disappointing loss last week and we are backing them to come out on top in a narrow victory.

Hurricanes vs Chiefs (Saturday 5.15pm AEST)

In one of the biggest matches of the round, the Hurricanes will host the Chiefs in an all New Zealand affair. These are two of the most in form teams of the competition with the Hurricanes on a five match-winning streak whilst the Chiefs have lost just one game all season and are sitting on the top of the table.

The Hurricanes were dominant in their victory over the Rebels last week as they ran in for six tries and they didn’t let their opponent in the contest. They lost their opening two matches of the season and it seemed as if the side was going to struggle as they lost a lot of key players over the offseason. However, since then they have been able to click well and despite the injury to Nehe Milner-Skudder their back line has become devastating in attack.

Meanwhile the Chiefs have been able to overcome their weak scrum to continue to earn victories. Their back line has a lot of talent, especially their fly half Aaron Cruden who has led the All Blacks to a World Cup title in 2011 and the Chiefs to numerous titles. He is continuing to excel whilst their fullback Damian McKenzie is continuing to develop and has an involvement in almost all of their tries. We are expecting the Chiefs attack to be too strong in this one whilst their defence will hold off the Hurricanes in a tight contest.

Western Force vs Waratahs (Saturday 7.35pm AEST)

The Waratahs season is on the edge of a cliff as they have fallen to four losses in their six matches this season. A side that won the competition two years ago and reached the preliminary final last year will need to step their level up a gear and string together a lot of wins if they are to even qualify for the finals series this season. Their loss against the Rebels was disappointing two weeks ago but their loss last week to the Brumbies was worse as it was the first time they had lost to their tough opponents on home soil in 14 years whilst the ACT side was without their best player David Pocock. The Waratahs will continue with Israel Folau at outside centre this week as he plays his second straight match in the position. They will need to give the star a lot more ball as one of the few times he touched the ball in an attacking position last week it resulted in a brilliant try. Meanwhile the move of Kurtley Beale to fullback was a success as he looks a lot more dangerous in open space and with no real playmaking role on his shoulders.

The Force has improved throughout the season and were almost victorious on home soil against the Crusaders two weeks ago. They lost that match by just one points as a late Crusaders try saw them fall just short. They have had a week off and will be fresh as they head into this match but unfortunately it won’t help the side. They have lost four of the six matches against the Waratahs on home soil and we expect that trend to continue this weekend as the Tahs come out on top by a double-digit margin.
