The 2016 Super Rugby season continues with seven matches taking place throughout the weekend. We take a look at the matches with the most value and offer our 2016 Super Rugby Round 6 Betting Tips.

Lions vs Crusaders (Saturday 4am AEDT)

The Crusaders opened their 2016 Super Rugby campaign with a narrow loss to the Chiefs on home soil. Since then they have continued to improve and have picked up three straight victories including their most impressive last week on the road against the Sharks. They were able to control the majority of the ball and had close to 70% of possession as their ball handling was near perfect and crucial in their victory. They will need to hold onto the ball and protect the breakdown this weekend as they face a strong forward outfit.

The Lions will look to use their forwards to their advantage as they have one of the most intimidating packs in the competition. They will pressure the scrums and line outs and look to earn penalties and keep the scoreboard ticking over on home soil. However, we expect the Crusaders to take full advantage of their ability to find the try line and this will lead to their fourth straight victory.

Brumbies vs Chiefs (Saturday 7.45pm AEDT)

The Chiefs have lost just the one game this season and it was a disappointing loss at home to the Lions. They were surprised in that match and they didn’t show up to play and were outmuscled by the big Lions forwards. They will need to avoid having that happen again this weekend, as the Brumbies are another side with an intimidating forward pack.

Last week the Brumbies returned to winning ways with a comfortable victory against the Cheetahs in South Africa. It was David Pocock leading from the front as he does in the majority of matches as he was a constant threat at the breakdown and continually regained possession for his side. Meanwhile the backline had an off match as handling errors cost the side from extending their lead further throughout the match. If they could have managed to hold onto the final pass it would have been an even more convincing victory. However, the Chiefs defence will be a lot stronger this weekend and we are expecting a much closer game between these two sides with the Brumbies coming out on top with home field advantage and on the back of their superiority in the forward pack.

Waratahs vs Rebels (Sunday 4.05pm AEDT)

The Waratahs will have a reshuffled back line this week after losing Rob Horne to injury. This has moved super star Israel Folau to outside centre whilst Kurtley Beale moves to his preferred spot at fullback. This could be a massive positive for the side as it allows Beale to have more freedom and roam the field and involve himself when he chooses and moves him away from the controlling role he doesn’t enjoy as much. Whilst it should also allow Israel Folau to touch the ball more in attack and also get involved in the defensive line.

Meanwhile the Rebels have issues of their own in the back line as they will be without All Black outside centre Tamati Ellison who suffered a hamstring injury in their loss to the Highlanders. His two back ups are also sidelined with injury in Tom English and Jonah Placid. This will make it an interesting match up between Folau and a 4th string outside centre and no doubt the Wallaby will find a way to get an upper hand. Bernard Foley will also be improved this weekend after having a match under his belt and we are expecting the Waratahs to run away with this one.
