Western Force vs Brumbies (Friday 10.05pm AEDT)

The Force picked up their first win of the season last week and it could prove to be an important one as it gets the monkey off their back and relieves a little bit of pressure on the side. The team isn’t expected to do much this season and they were predicted by a lot of people to end up on the bottom of the ladder at the conclusion of the year. However, earning a victory gives a side a lot of confidence and helps them grow which will help them throughout the rest of the season.

Unfortunately for them they are taking on the high flying Brumbies this weekend that are the form team of the competition. They demolished the Hurricanes in the opening match of the season and backed it up with a strong performance in their win against the Waratahs last weekend. The score line favoured the side but it showed they can finish games strongly and keep their foot on the pedal even if the win is already in the bag. The side has picked up two wins by 13+ in their first two matches and we will back the Brumbies to make it three in a row this weekend against their weakest opponent yet.

Rebels vs Reds (Saturday 7.45pm AEDT)

The Reds have had the worst start to their 2016 campaign imaginable. Two straight losses to their Australian conference rivals has led to them sitting on the bottom of the table and they have now lost their coach Richard Graham. It was a bit of a harsh sacking considering the side has had a lot of injury troubles as well as entering a transition period as they are without their superstars for the first time this season. However, there is no time for sulking as the team will need to find a way to improve quickly as they face their third Australian rival this weekend.

The Rebels were disappointing in their loss to the Bulls last week in South Africa as they had a slow start to the match as they let the Bulls run around them with ease. The team did show some character by fighting back but it was too little and too late for the inexperienced side. However, the Rebels were strong in their opening match against the Force and they earned a comprehensive victory against them. They will play a lot better on home soil and it should be an easy win for them against a Reds side that looks destined to finish near the bottom of the table this season.

Stormers vs Sharks (Sunday 2.15am AEDT)

This is the match of the round and it will potentially have the most implications come the end of the season with the two sides fighting it out for the top spot in the South African conference. Both sides have had winning starts to the year but it has been the Sharks who have played at a higher level. Their win over the Kings in the first round showed no mercy as they continued to pack on the points against a weaker rival whilst last week they overcame the Jaguares who have shown promise in the opening two weeks.

However, the Stormers have cruised to two comfortable victories against South African rivals and they could have been biding their time to step up another gear this weekend. The Stormers are a side that constantly keeps the scoreboard ticking over with the boot and they are an incredibly hard side to beat once you are trailing. We expect them to earn the victory on their home soil but it will be by a narrow margin.
