2016 State of Origin Game 2 Betting Tips
Queensland Maroons Vs New South Wales Blues (Wednesday, June 22 at 8pm AEST)
Leading the series 1-0, the Maroons have plenty to be happy about. Game 2 is set to take place Wednesday at Suncorp and with a dominating record in hand, the Queenslanders are sitting pretty. History tells us the Suncorp advantage is huge for the Maroons. With 52,000 bums in the seats and about 50,000 of them wearing Maroon, the pressure will certainly be on the Blues.
Nate Myles is the only Maroon who wont be suiting up on Wednesday night. He’s out with a knee injury. Jacob Lillyman has been recalled to the Maroons line-up to replace Myles at prop. Early in the week Queensland captain Cameron Smith urged Lillyman to come out with the same intensity that Myles has brought to the side for the last decade.
Corey Parker’s retirement is a factor, in the same way Justin Hodges was last year. Despite the fact it shouldn’t really play a part, the Maroons will want to send their long-time teammate away with a win. Parker has been an integral part of the Maroons line up since making his debut in 2004.
Injuries have always plagued the New South Wales Blues and this year its no different. We saw Josh Morris replace Josh Dugan days before Game 1. Now that Josh Morris is unavailable and Boyd Cordner is also injured, the Blues will place their faith in two debutants in Jack Bird and Tyson Frizell. Bird will have a big impact off the bench for the Blues. His energy and creativity are going to be the most interesting part of Game 2. Though with the inclusion of the 21 year old, the Blues line-up is looking very young and inexperienced.
Dylan Walker’s SOO debut fell flat as he failed to reach the heights many had anticipated. In the 10-minutes he played he was only able to run the ball for 5 metres, make 11 tackles and an error. While his performance wasn’t exactly Origin standard, Walker has been given a second shot and due to Josh Morris’s injury, Walker has been elevated to the starting line up. This will mean his direct opponent is Greg Inglis, and we can only imagine Inglis will be gunning for his former teammate.
The Maroons are clearly in the best possible Origin position. Its do or die for the Blues and at Suncorp they are looking like the latter. With everything accounted for – potential series win, Corey Parker’s last home Origin game, the Suncorp effect, we are expecting the Maroons to light it up.
