2016 NRL Round 7 Betting Tips
With six weeks behind us, the 2016 NRL season continues and it looks like a cracker of a weekend coming up starting this Thursday night with the Sea Eagles up against the Eels. Make sure to read on for our latest NRL betting tips as we offer our NRL Round 7 tips
Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles Vs Parramatta Eels (Thursday, April 14)
Thursday night will showcase one of the NRL’s biggest and longest running rivalries – The sky versus the sea… The Sea Eagles Vs the Eels.
Defensively the Eels are ridiculously strong. They’ve amassed a staggering 2083 tackles over six games and only conceded 12 tries. Pair their strong defense with a left-side attack that is starting to show it’s true form and you’ve got a pretty strong team.
Both teams have elected to name unchanged sides this week. With the Sea Eagles and Eels coming off strong wins, it’s not hard to see why.
Manly is almost there. Losing DCE would challenge any team. Api Koroisau has been acting as his replacement for a couple of weeks and last week finally showed his ability to pull the trigger. He was the Sea Eagles’ leading tackler with 35. He facilitated a couple of tries and ran the ball 70 metres. A friend of mine says defense wins games. He’s not wrong. We believe this one will come down to the wire, but after the 80 minutes the Eels will be taking home the 2 points.
Bet On: Parramatta Eels -2.0 – $1.92 at CrownBet
North Queensland Cowboys Vs South Sydney Rabbitohs (Friday, April 15)
Its no secret I like the Rabbitohs. I think they’re a strong team. I believe in the process they’ve put into place over the last few years and I think they have a shot to win the competition. Unfortunately, it seems as if the players don’t fully “believe” this season. They compete with strong teams but then don’t show up for the “easy victories.”
This week Adam Reynolds will return to the side along with David Tyrrell. Cody Walker has been omitted and another player will be dropped off the extended bench. Reynolds will provide much-needed stability and his kicking game will be a huge asset moving forward.
The Cowboys, on the other hand, are sitting second on the ladder with four wins, two losses. They also have the biggest positive points differential in the league. They’ve notched up three wins at home this season and would be feeling pretty confident to make it four on Friday night.
This one looks to be pretty cut and dry. The Cowboys at home with ease. I do believe the Bunnies will show up this week and will give the Cowboys a fight, so taking the Cowboys in a close one.
Bet On: North Queensland Cowboys 1-12 – $3.15 at CrownBet
Brisbane Broncos Vs Newcastle Knights (Saturday, April 16)
When the Broncos take the field, other teams take notes and rightly so as Coach Wayne Bennett is the master. He expects respect and demands performances. Last week the Broncos systematically took the Dragons apart, starting from the 4th minute and never letting up during their 26-0 victory. Defense was obviously a topic during the off season. The Broncos have made huge leaps with a 30% reduction in points against. Sticking with the same team line up as last weekend, we expect the Broncos will enjoy a similar result this week.
The Knights, meanwhile, enjoyed their first win of the season last week, beating the Wests Tigers at home. The likelyhood of the Knights overpowering the Broncos at Suncorp is pretty slim. For the record, the Knights will welcome Sione Mata’utia back into the centres after he missed last week with a concussion. Jean Feeney has been omitted.
Tip: Brisbane at the line (-17.5) – $1.92 at Ladbrokes
Wests Tigers Vs Melbourne Storm (Sunday, April 17)
Neither of these two teams are in spectacular form. The Storm started the season extremely well, but have dropped off over the last two weeks. The Tigers notched up two quick wins before starting their current four-game losing streak.
Aaron Woods is a massive loss for the Wests Tigers. The skipper hurt his ankle during last week’s defeat at the hands of the Knights. The loss of Woods wont go unnoticed by the Tigers as he is statistically their best player, averaging 32 Tackles, 20 hit ups and 172.67 running metres per game. The Tigers have named Jack Buchanan, Joel Edwards and Michael Chee-kam to an extend bench.
Storm are sticking with the same side that went toe-to-toe with the Bulldogs on Monday night. In a game that allowed the Storm to produce some of their best football, the NRL gods just weren’t on their side. Statically they were unlucky not to walk away with the two points, but will be firing to go against an under performing Tigers.
Tip: Storm at the line (-2.0) – $1.92 at CrownBet
Sydney Roosters Vs Penrith Panthers (Monday, April 18)
Last weekend, the Roosters faced off against their cross-town rivals the Rabbitohs and pecked and scratched their way to victory. During the 80-minute lesson, the Roosters’ lead was never really challenged. Dylan Napa was superb, taking his game to another level and managing to contain Sam Burgess and the rest of the Rabbitohs’ forwards. This week Mitchell Frei replaces Soi Siua Taukeiaho on the Bench.
The Panthers aren’t having as bad a season as their ladder position suggests. After six rounds they are sitting in 12th position with two wins and four losses. They beat the Broncos and have come close against the Cowboys and the Bulldogs. The Panthers welcome in Elijah Taylor and Tyrone Peachey. Both of whom have been placed on the extended bench in an otherwise unchanged side.
This one’s interesting. On paper the Panthers are the superior side, but the Roosters managed to pull off a massive upset that could reset their season. I’m expecting this one to be close.
Tip: Either Team Under 6.5 Points – $3.10 at CrownBet
