2016 NRL Round 13 Betting Tips
After State of Origin stole our attention during the week, it’s back to business as we offer our 2016 NRL Round 13 betting tips
Canberra Raiders Vs Manly Sea Eagles (Friday, June 3 at 7:50PM AEST)
When most of the Maroons players were celebrating their Origin victory on Wednesday night, Raiders second-rower Josh Papalii was in the car driving back to Canberra. So committed to the green machines agenda is Papalii, he managed to show up to training on Thursday morning and will be backing up on Friday night.
Jordan Rapana, meanwhile, is one of the inform wingers in the competition, currently sitting on 10 tries for the season and with 15 line breaks he is clearly the main attacking target for the Raiders this season. Last weekend he scored the the Raiders opening try in their 32-20 come from behind victory against the sharks. The big story out of this one is recent Parramatta defect Junior Paulo will be making his debut for the Raiders. At prop, Junior will have a huge impact for Canberra. This season he averages 108 metres per game and 20+ tackles. He has been named but is awaiting the NRL to approve his new contract. Brenko Lee and Clay Priest have also been named with Edrick Lee, Jeff Lima and Shaun Fensom being omitted. Consistency has been a huge issue for the Raiders this season, If they can get off to a quick start, they shouldn’t have too many issues.
Manly care oming off the bye and will be firing to get on the field Friday night. With two players in Dylan Walker and Nate Myles returning from origin performances, the Sea Eagles will have a near full strength team. Neither Myles or Walker played huge minutes on Wednesday night so there shouldn’t be any issues with them backing up this weekend.
Its been over a month since Manly won. That would be tough for any team. Unfortunately, that streak will likely continue on Friday night with freezing temperatures and a home field advantage to Canberra making it too tough for Manly.
Bet On: Canberra Raiders 1-12 – $3.05 at CrownBet
Melbourne Storm Vs Penrith Panthers (Saturday, June 4 at 7:30PM AEST)
The ‘big three’ are out this week. Billy obviously has been injured for awhile, but Cam Smith and Cooper Cronk have been rested after their big Origin winning performances. Kenny Bromwich will take the field at Hooker and Tohu Harris has been suggested at Halfback.
Alternatively, the Panthers and NSW players Matt Moylan and Josh Mansour have been named to play. Moylan was unable to prove his doubters wrong on Wednesday night when he made several crucial errors. James Segeyaro is out for the Panthers, with Peter Wallace slotting into hooker and Tyrone Peachey taking to the field at five-eigth. Chris Gevsmuhl will debut for the panthers replacing James Fisher-Harris who is out injured.
Many will see this as a huge opportunity for the Panthers who have never won at AAMI park. But with the Storm currently on a five-game winning streak, and the depth and speed they have on the wings, we expect Melbourne to over run the Panthers.
Bet On: Melbourne Strom +13 – $3.75 at CrownBet
South Sydney Rabbitohs Vs Gold Coast Titans (Sunday, June 5 at 6:30PM AEST)
The Rabbitohs will face off against the Titans on Sunday night. The only difference is this one will be played over in Western Australia. This will be the 8th home game the Rabbitohs have taken to Perth in recent years, with a current record of 5 wins from 7 appearances.
Both Greg Inglis and Adam Reynolds will back up for the Bunnies on Sunday after stellar Origin performances. The only change coming from George Burgess who is out for the next couple of months with a groin injury. He will be replaced by Dave Tyrell. Defensively the the Rabbitohs have always been strong, They lost their way for a while, but have found structure in recent weeks. Where they haven’t stuttered this season is in attack.
The Titans are still shocking the competition. After starting the season with four straight wins, they then dropped off but have recently found their form with back-to-back wins against the Roosters and Panthers. Origin didn’t impact the titans too much this season, with only Greg Bird being selected. Bird has been instrumental in almost all the Titans wins this season, however, and is set to back up on Sunday night. Bird played off the bench in Game 1, running the ball 105 metres and making 34 tackles.
With both teams coming off the bye and all the Origin stars backing up, this one looks to be an absolute ripper. We are expecting the Titans to put up a fight, but Its hard to look past the Rabbitohs recent record in Perth. Rabbitohs in a close one.
Bet On: South Sydney Rabbitohs 1-12 – $3.15 at Ladbrokes
Canterbury Bulldogs Vs Cronulla Sharks (Monday, June 6 at 7:00PM AEST)
There are plenty of changes for the Bulldogs this week. Will Hopoate is back, along with Josh Morris, David Klemmer and Josh Jackson all named to back up after Origin. Greg Eastwood is out for surgery and Danny Fualalo, Reimis Smith and Tyrone Phillips are all being omitted.
Kerrod Holland’s kicking has been atrocious this season. Last week the Raiders had a come from behind victory against the Bulldogs, but the only story anyone wanted to talk about was Holland’s kicking… and we’re not talking missing to the left or right. We’re talking missing the distance and coming up short… Safe to assume he’s got the yips.
James Maloney, Paul Gallen and Andrew Fifita have all been named to back up on Monday night.
Coming off the bye, there are no other changes to the Sharks. Sitting in 1st position on the Ladder, the Sharks are having a fantastic season. They average over 27 points per game. Valentine Holmes and Ben Barba have been having incredible seasons, scoring 10 and 8 tries respectively.
The Sharks are the superior side in this one. We believe it will be a one sided affair with the sharks running over the Bulldogs.
Bet On: Cronulla Sharks – 13+ – $4.55 at CrownBet
