The preseason has finished and it’s time to unleash the real stuff!

So, let’s get stuck straight into the best picks for the weekend with our 2016 NFL Week 1 betting tips

There are some great games on the board and there looks to be plenty of value.

Tennessee Titans @ Minnesota Vikings

If you haven’t seen the news yet, Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is out for the season after suffering a brutal injury to his leg. They’ve since traded for Sam Bradford and given up valuable draft picks to do so.

The Titans, on the other hand have had a terrific offseason and look set to improve on their efforts last year. DeMarco Murray comes across from a failed experiment in Philadelphia and should thrive in this running game. He is to be supported by recent draft addition Derrick Henry who won the Heisman trophy last year and has looked very good in preseason.

The Vikings defence is a little overrated and we think they’ll regress in 2016 even with Bridgewater, without him and old brittle bones Bradford under centre we are very keen to take a stand against them and side with the Titans who’s running game looks ominous.

Suggested bet: Titans to win – $2.05 at William Hill
Confidence level: 80%

Cincinnati Bengals @ New York Jets

Cincinnati is a team that doesn’t get enough credit, especially in the regular season. Until their quarterback Andy Dalton got hurt last year they were fourth on our NFL power rankings and clearly a better team than the New York Jets.

The Jets are in an awkward position, this roster simply can’t compete for a Super Bowl. Best case for them they can maybe sneak a wild card spot. They acquired Matt Forte from the Bears but he’s the wrong side of 30 and that isn’t a kind recipe for running backs these days.

We’ve rated the Bengals as 6.5 points better than the Jets on a neutral field. After then deducting two points because the game is played in New York there is still a nice overlay for us to bet.

Suggested bet: Bengals at the line (-2.5) – $1.91 at William Hill
Confidence level: 75%

New York Giants @ Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys enter every year with a cloud of optimism surrounding them. They were clear favourites for the NFC East title until Tony Romo injured his back in a preseason game against the Seahawks.

In steps young Dak Prescott who looked excellent in the preseason but is yet to play a regular-season game against organised and dialled in defences and must be seen as a big risk at this stage.

The Giants on the other hand, well they looked a little sluggish at times during the preseason but that was to be expected as it was clear the main focus was to get through unscathed and healthy which they have for the first time in a long, long time.

The defensive additions have fit in really well so far and it’s impossible for the defence not to be better in 2016. Actually, if they stay healthy and the likes of Vernon and Jackson live up to the hype they might be sneaky good.

The offence is very solid and the Cowboys defence is one of the worst in the league. We see Eli Manning putting up a stack of points with Odell Beckham and Sterling Sheppard running rampant among the Cowboys secondary.

Suggested bet: Giants to win – $1.91 at William Hill
Confidence level: 75%
