2016 NFL Preseason Week 2 Betting Tips

August 19, 2016 by Posted in NFL Tips

We’ve got one week of NFL action under our belt and it certainly got us excited for the season that is just around the corner.

As a general rule, we only bet in the preseason markets when the edge is large because of the variance associated with so many different players playing.

Almost always, the bets we recommend in the preseason are just bets capitalising on a market overreaction.

With that being said, there is a few games on the board this weekend that are worth a half stake on.

Carolina Panthers at Tennessee Titans

– 5am Sunday morning

The Tennessee Titans are absolutely stacked at running back with DeMarco Murray, Derrick Henry and Dexter McCluster all certainly NFL quality and then they have a few fringe players who are running to make the roster.

A run heavy offense trampled the Chargers in Week 1 (288 yards on the ground alone) and we think they’ll do the same to the Carolina Panthers who have less to prove and their most important job right now is getting the starters that took them all the way to the Super Bowl last year to Week 1 healthy and happy.

Expect Derek Anderson and Joe Webb to take the majority of snaps under center for the Panthers and the Titans run happy offense to be in full flight again with a stack of Carolina’s key run stoppers sitting this one out.

Suggested bet: Tennessee Titans -1 $1.92 (Sportsbet)
Confidence level: 75%

New York Giants at Buffalo Bills

– 6am Sunday morning

The New York Giants have been heavily affected by injuries over the last few years and we are very confident that new coach Ben McAdoo won’t be making the same mistake as Tom Coughlin and going too hard with his starters.

That theory was in full flight during week 1 with the Giants giving plenty of opportunities to lineman and offensive players. They also showed how week they are at quarterback when Eli Manning isn’t playing. This did create some chaos and the Giants turned the ball over a lot and gave away some sloppy penalties. We see that trend continuing in the second week of preseason as they roll out a huge crop of players.

The Bills on the other hand, have some depth and excitement at quarterback and we expect their top level running backs will get some more snaps at home this week.

Suggested bet: Buffalo Bills -2.5 $1.87 (William Hill)
Confidence level: 70%
