2016 AFL

Only managed 1/3 correct AFL betting tips in Round 2 – and the one we got right was probably the toughest pick of the three. Hopefully we can turn it around this week with our best AFL Round 3 betting tips!

Port Adelaide vs Essendon (Friday, April 8)

This is a ‘must win’ game for Port Adelaide. And we think they will win. However, the 8-goal line looks a little too big and Essendon could certainly keep it closer than that. Port Adelaide go into this Friday night clash at Adelaide Oval without Jay Shulz, Chad Wingard and Hamish Hartlett. Those are some huge outs. Essendon, meanwhile, are coming off a confidence boosting win that showed us they aren’t as hopeless as once thought. Port Adelaide need to make a statement, but we don’t think they have the manpower to blow Essendon away.

Tip: Port Adelaide UNDER 39.5 – $3.10 at CrownBet

Richmond vs Adelaide (Saturday, April 9)

Adelaide will be very happy this game against Richmond is at Etihad instead of the MCG. The Crows have a fantastic record at Etihad and won’t be too worried about coming to Melbourne to play Richmond. It’s actually quite surprising that the Crows are only 3-point favourites. They were fantastic against the Power last week and were solid in their small loss to the Roos the week before. Richmond are coming off that disgraceful last-minute loss to the Pies and didn’t really show us that much against Carlton the week before. Richmond also still have some injury troubles, including having Deledio ont he sidelines. Get on the Crows.

Tip: Adelaide Crows at the line (-2.5) – $1.92 at Sportsbet

Sydney vs GWS (Saturday, April 9)

The Swans take on the Giants in a big Sydney derby on Saturday afternoon and it’s sure to be one of the most competitive games of the weekend. The Swans have got off to a flier this season, getting big wins in Round 1 and 2 and I think they will manage a third straight in Round 3. The Giants will no doubt give them a run for their money with their elite midfield matching it with the Swans talented midfield. However, the Giants are still without Jeremy Cameron, while the Swans have that big dominant forward line. Getting on the Swans in a close one.

Tip: Sydney UNDER 39.5 – $2.10 at CrownBet

North Melbourne vs Melbourne (Sunday, April 10)

The line for this game opened at 23.5 points and is as high as 28 points at some Australian sportsbooks. We liked the Roos to cover the line when it was four goals and we still like them to cover upwards of 5 goals. Melbourne came crashing back to earth when they lost to Essendon last week and I’m not sure they will recover. The Roos have been solid this year and with this game in Tasmania, will be looking to make a statement and continue building their confidence. The Roos don’t lose across Bass Strait.

Tip: North Melbourne at the line (-26.5) – $1.92 at CrownBet
