2016-17 UEFA Champions League: Semi Finals Betting Tips

The UEFA Champions League has reached the decisive stage and the semi-finals are on the anvil. It is the Madrid Derby in one match as Real and Atletico resume their European rivalry while Juventus will have to tackle the high-flying Monaco in the other.

Definitely, the most glamorous tie of this round as the two bitter city rivals will once again go head-to-head. Over the last five years under Diego Simeone, Atletico have managed to move away from the shadow of their more illustrious neighbors.

However, pain and agony followed them in deep stages of this tournament against Real Madrid. Last year, Atletico were defeated on penalties in the final while they also have bitter memories from the 2014 extra time loss.

No wonder then that Atletico will be itching to put it across Real in this fixture. It will not be easy though as Real come on the back of seven wins from 10 matches in Champions League – the most by any team this season. They are also the top scoring team. Up against them is a mean Atletico defence that has conceded the second-least number of goals per game.

Both the matches could be cagey affairs and this match has the potential to go into extra-time or penalties. Back Atletico to spring a surprise.

AS Monaco vs Juventus
It is going to be a very interesting match in the other semi-final where the free-scoring Monaco will take on the frugal Juventus. Monaco are the highest scorers in Ligue 1 this season with an incredible 95 goals. The trio of Radamel Falcao, Kyle Mbappe and Bernardo Silva have been terrorizing defenses across Europe this season.

Juventus though will be a different fish altogether. The ‘Old Lady’ have conceded just two goals in 10 games. Their defensive masterclass against Barcelona in the quarterfinals leaves no one in doubt about their credentials. Paulo Dybala is already one of the most feared strikers in the continent and the Monaco defense that has already conceded the most goals of all the four semi-finalists should be worried.

What could decide this fixture is how the Monaco forward-line fares against the Juventus defense. Back the Old Lady to progress.
