2016-17 NBA Opening Day Betting Tips
The NBA season has arrived with three games on the slate for the first night of the season.
See below for our preview and best NBA betting tips in all of the games! As it’s still super early and we don’t have much information on how teams will line-up most of the value can be found outside of the money line and spread markets.
New York Knicks @ Cleveland Cavaliers Wednesday, October 26th at 10:40am
The Cavs will unveil their championship banner as they host a Knicks team that has a stack of new faces. Noah, Jennings and Rose (likely) will all be in action for New York who should be slightly better than last year at the very least. It’s probably Carmelo’s last chance to put up elite numbers and any natural second-year improvement from Porzingis will help.
The Cavs should be every bit as good as they were last year and we are expecting Kevin Love has more of an impact now that he is seemingly healthy and without excuses. The points spread seems fairly high at 9.5 for a game so early in the season so we are looking elsewhere for the value.
Suggested Tip: Kevin Love over 9.5 rebounds – $1.87 at Sportsbet
Confidence level: 75%
Utah Jazz @ Portland Trailblazers – Wednesday, October 26th at 1:10pm
Utah is without their star playmaker Gordon Hayward who shoulders much of their offensive load. Joe Johnson and Rodney Hood should benefit from this in the scoring and assists department. George Hill moves into the point guard position for them and he’s hardly a potent offensive player meaning that Hood and Johnson will hold any hopes of a Utah victory against a Blazers team that has a stack of offensive firepower.
Lillard and McCollum can almost match Curry and Thompson when it comes to three-point heat checks and should only get better this year as the young Portland nucleus grows. The odds are spot on for this game in both H2H and spread markets. The value is in the player markets that have been shaken up with Hayward not playing.
Suggested Tip: Joe Johnson over 10.5 points – $1.96 at Sportsbet
Confidence level: 90%
San Antonio Spurs @ Golden State Warriors Wednesday, October 26th at 1:40pm
The Warriors and their new acquisition Kevin Durant will host the Spurs who enter their first season without Tim Duncan since the second World War. The Warriors are a whopping nine-point favourite with the bookies and there is no doubt a stack of punters lining up to place a bet on the NBA’s new version of the globetrotters.
The Spurs have flown under the radar all offseason and are maybe worth a small bet at the spread but the overly isn’t quiet big enough to suggest a bet. Instead we will once again be taking a player special that looks like value.
Suggested Tip: Patty Mills Total Points + Assists 11 OVER – $1.87 at Sportsbet
Confidence level: 75%
