Cleveland Cavaliers at Boston Celtics (Thursday 10am AEST)
The Eastern Conference leaders the Celtics and the Cavaliers are equal after 77 games. This match will almost certainly determine which team takes top spot and could potentially decide the Eastern Conference finals side who has the advantage of four home games.
The Cavaliers have bounced back from a three game losing streak to win their last three matches. They will head into this one on the back of a back-to-back but fortunately for them Kevin Love has begun to bounce back. He bagged 28 points in a 17 point victory against the Magic. He will be the key to victory in this one because when Love plays well it not only spreads the floor for the Cavaliers but it relieves a lot of pressure off of Kyrie Irving and Lebron James.
Meanwhile the Celtics will enter the match on a two game winning streak. The side is in form and has won eight of its last 10 games. Isaiah Thomas has lost a bit of his momentum but continues to carry the side. Averly Bradley has recently returned to the line up but he has been slow to get back to the level he was at before his injury. We are expecting a tight battle, but with top spot in the Eastern conference on the line, James will be in playoff mode in this one as the Cavs come out on top.
TIP: Cavaliers to win – $2.06 with Sportsbet
Dallas Mavericks at Los Angeles Clippers (Thursday 12.30pm AEST)
The Los Angeles Clippers are trying to push for fourth spot in the Western Conference and it is key they earn the victory in this one. They have been playing a high level leading into the playoffs as the side is finally fully healthy. Chris Paul has been playing at his best, scoring and continuing to be one of the best floor generals in the game.
The Mavericks are 3-7 in their last 10 games as they have fallen away since releasing Deron Williams and Andrew Bogut. They won’t be able to match it with the Clippers high pace in this one.
DeAndre Jordan is strong on the defensive end and will have an opportunity to get a couple of opportunities in this one. We are expecting Blake Griffin to have a big match against a couple of rookies and an aging Dirk Nowitzki. The Clippers will be able to extend their winning game to four games.
TIP: Clippers to win at the line (-10) – $1.95 with Ladbrokes
Golden State Warriors at Phoenix Suns (Thursday 12pm AEST)
The Warriors aren’t planning on resting their stars, despite them almost guaranteed to earn the victory in this one. They have certainly locked up the top spot in the Western conference for the third straight year. Kevin Durant remains on the sidelines and won’t be returning in the regular season, however he could be back for the opening game of the playoffs. The side has played well without the former MVP and has gone back to their old playing style. Stephen Curry has returned to MVP form and has been dominating. Klay Thompson has been getting extra touches and dropped 41 points in his last game.
Meanwhile the Suns have been playing their rookies for the second half of the season. Eric Bledsoe has been shutdown for the season and Tyler Ulis has been great as a replacement. The 5 foot 9 rookie has been balling and playing above everyone’s expectations. However, he will meet his match against Curry in this one and the depth of the Suns will be caught out as the Warriors will run away with this one. We are expecting a big scoreline to be put on them and the match will be wrapped up by half time.
TIP: Warriors to win at the line (-11) – $1.95 with Sportsbet
