2016-17 NBA Betting Tips – Saturday, January 28th
Looking like another handy Saturday of NBA during the 2016-17 NBA season, so make sure to read on for our NBA betting tips for Saturday, January 28th which includes a look at the Australian televised Rockets at 76ers.
Charlotte Hornets at New York Knicks (11:30am AEDT)
The Charlotte Hornets have had a roller coaster season – the kind of roller coaster that soars up and screams straight down. They have lost 9 of the last 13 games and have an overall record of 23-23 after starting the season strongly. When Kemba Walker and Nicolas Batum are at their best, the Hornets can compete with the elite teams. The problem is that the Hornets are so inconsistent and much of this is because of their weak front court with the lacklustre Cody Zeller leading that department. To add to their woes, Zeller is also questionable at the moment, so be sure to check for late reports. Luckily for the Hornets, they are facing the Knicks on Saturday. This is a team that are severely underperforming at the moment. Their record is 20-27 and that’s not good enough for a team with Kristaps Porzingis, Carmelo Anthony and Derrick Rose. If this game was at home, the Hornets would likely bag an easy win. But they don’t have a great away record, while they will also have one eye on the fact they play four of their next five games on the road. I can see the Knicks sneaking a win, but I’m more confident of the fact that this should be a tight finish.
Tip: Hornets / Knicks – Either Team by Less Than 7 – $2.42 at CrownBet
Sacramento Kings at Indiana Pacers (11:05am AEDT)
It was just over a week ago that the Pacers defeated the Kings 106-100. The victory had a couple of real positives for Pacer fans. Firstly, they were down by 19 points at half time and still managed a win, while it was also a rare win on the road. Now they face the Kings in Indiana with the second of a back-to-back after defeating the Timberwolves 109-103. Indiana, led by Paul George and Jeff Teague, are starting to put up some strong performances and we expect that to continue against the Kings. Sacramento just haven’t been the team they were a month ago. They have lost eight of the last 11 and it’s hard to see when they will turn it around. Rudy Gay is still on the sidelines and Boogie Cousins is looking a little tired at times. The Kings will find this too tough on the road.
Tip: Indiana Pacers at the line (-3.5) – $1.86 at CrownBet
Houston Rockets at Philadelphia 76ers (12:10pm AEDT)
The televised NBA game in Australia sees James Harden’s Rockets head to Philadelphia to take on the 76ers. Just a few weeks ago we would have said this is an easy win for the Rockets, but the 76ers have been on fire lately, winning five of the last six games and 10 of the last 13. Amazingly, they have won the last two games without the beastly Joel Embiid. The big man is looking he will most likely play in this one and we are looking forward to seeing the future star of the NBA play against the favourite for this year’s MVP James Harden. The Rockets deserve to be favourites, but the line looks off here. Eric Gordon isn’t looking likely to play and at times the Houston bench can struggle. Harden will need a big road performance for the Rockets to win this one by double figures.
Tip: Philadelphia 76ers at the line (+7.0) – $1.95 at CrownBet
