2016-17 NBA Betting Tips – Saturday, February 25th
The 2016-17 NBA Season returns this week after the All-star break and trade period is over. There wasn’t as much action as was predicted close to the deadline but there was the one blockbuster trade involving DeMarcus Cousins. Continue reading for our NBA Saturday, February 25th Preview and Betting Tips.
Boston Celtics at Toronto Raptors (Saturday 12pm AEDT)
The Celtics weren’t able to do anything during the trade period which surprised a lot of experts. They have a lot of assets but couldn’t bring in the superstar that will make them true title contenders. They are still a great side and we are predicting Isiah Thomas to continue his streak of 20 point games in this one.
The Raptors did make changes to their line up but only one will be made in time for this contest. Serge Ibaka will be playing at the power forward position to give them an extra option in attack but more importantly the side adds a great rim protector. He will trouble Thomas’s efforts to get to the basket. The Raptors also have the home field advantage in this one and it will be enough for the side to get over the line by a narrow margin.
TIP: Raptors at the margin (1-10) – $2.47 at Sportsbet
Memphis Grizzlies at Indiana Pacers (Saturday 11am AEDT)
The Grizzlies and Pacers weren’t active during the trade period despite the speculation Pacers superstar Paul George could be on the move. He will remain with his side for the remainder of the season as they push for a strong position in the Eastern Conference. The side has a strong 20-10 record at home but they aren’t considered favourites in this content.
The Grizzlies will enter this match healthy and rested after the All-star period that only featured Marc Gasol. The side has one of the best defences and they are the grittiest team in the league. We are predicted a narrow battle in this contest with them getting the edge late in the match.
TIP: Grizzlies to win – $1.89 at Sportsbet
Washington Wizards at Philadelphia 76ers (Saturday 11am AEDT)
The 76ers started the season with the most depth of any team in the front court. However, they will return to the court on Saturday looking very thin. Joel Embiid will remain on the sidelines with Ben Simmons while Ersan Ilyasova and Nerlens Noel were traded. This puts a lot of pressure and minutes on their rookies and it will impact them in this one.
The Wizards are flying up the Eastern Conference and they won’t want to be slowing down. They added more punch to their bench which was ranked 29th in the league in scoring. We are predicting them to win by a big margin in this one on the back of John Wall, Bradley Beal and Otto Porter.
TIP: Wizards to win at the line (-8) – $1.95 at Sportsbet
Los Angeles Lakers at San Antonio Spurs (Saturday 2.30pm AEDT)
Looking at the market in this one the bookmakers aren’t predicting the Clippers to stand a chance or they don’t believe Chris Paul will make his return. However, the veteran point guard has been cleared to return to action and he will be well rested and ready to go. The Clippers dominated the Spurs in their meeting earlier in the season and with them at full strength they are a real chance of upsetting the Spurs.
The Spurs are second in the Western Conference and are flying under the radar. Khawai Leonard has had another monster season while Greg Popovic gets the best out of his role players. However, LaMarcus Aldridge has been a shell of his former self this season in a year when he was meant to be stepping up. We are predicting Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan to have big games with Paul back in the line up as the Clippers earn the W.
TIP: Clippers to win – $5.35 at Sportsbet
