2016-17 La Liga: Real Madrid vs Barcelona Betting Tips

April 22, 2017 by Posted in Soccer Tips

It’s El Clasico time and bitter rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona will clash at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday, April 23. With the result crucial in deciding the destination of La Liga title, it can’t get any better than this!

A chance to avenge the last loss
The last time these two sides met here, Barcelona thrashed Real 4-0 and it led to the sacking of Rafa Benitez landing Zinedine Zidane his job. Fast forward one year and Real are in a great position to lift the La Liga title.

The real icing on the cake would be to defeat their arch rivals at home. A win will increase Real’s lead at the top to six points with a game in hand and practically shutting the door on Barcelona.

The capital side is also in the midst of some good form having won six of their last seven league games. Only a 1-1 home draw against Atletico Madrid blotting their record. The anticipated return of Gareth Bale is sure to further boost their morale.

Can Barca find a cure to its disappointments?
Out of the Champions League and behind their nemesis, Barcelona are feeling the heat to turn the tables. Sadly, for Barca the road ahead is not rosy. Anything less than a win in the weekend Clasico will shut down their hopes of La Liga silverware.

This Barcelona side is looking a pale shadow of its usual collective best and their performances are limited to some individual cameos. With Neymar out of the game serving his three-match ban, the task has only become difficult for the visitors.

Unfortunately for Luis Enrique, his bench looks devoid of any quality options and it would take a miracle to win this tie.

Prediction
Barcelona won only two of its last five games but have won two of their last three games against Madrid at Bernabeu. It would be nothing short of a miracle though, if they win this weekend. Odds of $2.15 (William Hill) on Real’s win look more enticing than the odds of $3.25 (Ladbrokes) on Barca’s win.

TIP: Real Madrid to win – $2.15 at Ladbrokes

Cristiano Ronaldo is in such great scoring form that even plain off-sides are missed by referees. Wouldn’t he love to score against his arch nemesis Messi? Back the Portuguese to find the back of the net at odds of $1.73 (William Hill).

TIP: Ronaldo to score anytime – $1.73 at William Hill

Both teams have defensive problems and look good to conceding goals to opponents. At odds of $1.36 (Ladbrokes), a punt on both teams to score looks worthy.
