2016-17 EPL: Manchester City vs Liverpool Betting Tips

Contrasting fortunes have kept Manchester City and Liverpool on tenterhooks so far in the English Premier League. The Citizens are 10 points adrift of leaders Chelsea but are still in with a chance for the title. Liverpool are one point adrift of their opponents having played a game extra but have the onus of fighting for Champions League qualification places.

Liverpool aren’t in any different zone. After a dream start to their Premier League campaign, the Reds saw 2017 arrive with a string of losses. At 55 points, they are fourth in the table but have played one match more than City and two matches more than closest competitors Arsenal and Manchester United.

Their relative positions in the table make this a virtual six-pointer for the sides. City have dropped points in their last Premier League match against Stoke and would be desperate for full points. Coming on the heels of their high profile exit from Europe, the Citizens can ill-afford another slip-up.

For Klopp and Liverpool, Champions League qualification remains the sole objective now that they have crashed out of all other competitions. With teams breathing down its neck, it won’t be easy for the Reds though. However, the biggest positive for Liverpool is their exemplary record under Klopp against top four teams.
