2016-17 EPL: Chelsea vs Leicester Betting Tips

The 2016-17 English Premier League (EPL) season will be back to action this week after a short gap for International football. The biggest cheer will be at Stamford Bridge where Chelsea will have a great chance to put one across last year’s champions Leicester on Saturday, October 15.

Season so far

After the disasters of last year, this season started well for Chelsea under Antonio Conte. But their early season form somewhat tapered off in the last couple of rounds with losses to Liverpool and Arsenal. The manner of those losses must have hurt Conte the most because of the chinks it exposed in their squad. The Blues are now at seventh place in the table tallying 13 points.

Leicester are far worse than Chelsea in that aspect. After the lofty standards they set last season, there was quiet confidence that they would at least stay in contention for European places. On current form though, that looks a distant dream as the Foxes are struggling to replicate their fairy tale from last season. They are currently in 12th position and have just eight points from seven matches.

What’s ailing the teams?

For Chelsea it’s their defence that is hurting them the most. Bereft of a leader in the injury-induced absence of Joh Terry, the Blues are struggling to replicate their usual steeliness at the back. Even the midfield looks lost for ideas and had it not been for Eden Hazard and Diego Costa, there would have been more serious questions for Conte to answer.

For Leicester, it is the call back to reality from the heights of last season. To be fair to them, their performance in the Champions League has not been bad, but it is their domestic form that has already seen them ship out three losses.

Prediction

Both teams are in the middle of uncertainties and hence it is tough to predict who could be the winner. Chelsea will have an edge considering the fact that they are slightly better off than their visitors. Back the Blues to end up victors!
