2016-17 EPL: Arsenal vs Manchester United Betting Tips

Arsenal Manchester United
Arsenal versus Manchester United used to be the title decider. It used to be a game dominated by characters on and off the field. The two fallen giants have gone so far behind the title race that the result does not matter anymore in the destination of the English Premier League title. For the first time in forty years, the match at the Emirates on Sunday, May 7th will witness both these play in the second half of the Premier League outside the top four.

Wenger faces his familiar foe
Arsene Wenger may not need reminding but he is yet to defeat Jose Mourinho in 15 competitive matches. Never a bad time to get your first victory over your long-term adversary.

Arsenal have 60 points from 33 matches and are in sixth position currently. With the race for top-four ever so tight, the Gunners know well that a loss would all but rule out their chances.

If the signs were to be any indicator, Wenger would be worrisome. They come on the back of a humiliating derby loss to Tottenham last weekend and carry a poor away form – five defeats in the last six matches. Thankfully, at the Emirates they have three wins in the last four outings.

An unbeaten Manchester United
The Red Devils are unbeaten in 25 matches in the Premier League – a run that spans six months. Only that during this time they could move only from seventh in the table to fifth.

It does not need a fortuneteller to say where Mourinho’s priorities lie right now. Having seen the race to top-four become increasingly tight at the same time where they reached the semi-finals of Europa League, Mourinho has not made bones of the fact that Premier League is no longer his top bucket.

Is that one of Mourinho’s old games – especially since it comes against his favorite opponent manager?

Prediction
Shkodran Mustafi will be available for selection for Wenger who should have no problems in putting his first-choice XI. Not so straightforward for Mourinho though, who will have injuries and Europa League take precedence over the London visit. Wenger would love a win but Mourinho may just park the bus and frustrate the Gunners. Back a draw at odds of $3.70 (bet365)

Desperate times call for desperate measures and this is desperation time for Wenger. Back Arsenal to go all-out for a win – odds being offered on an Arsenal win are $1.95 (William Hill).

TIP: Arsenal to win – $1.95 at William Hill
