2016-17 Big Bash League Round 7 Betting Tips

January 13, 2017 by Posted in Cricket Tips

The Big Bash League will get a double dose of excitement this round as teams start jostling to be in contention for semi finals slots. It’s good for the spectators that all teams still have an outside chance to qualify which makes every game super important! Round Seven stars with a hige double-header on Saturday night, and we have you covered with a full round preview and betting tips here.

Sydney Sixers vs Sydney Thunder at SCG (Jan 14, 6:10pm local)

Sixers have eight points from six games putting them in third place on the ladder. Jason Roy’s departure has been ably filled by Michael Lumb while the return of Nic Maddinson is a huge boost. Above all this is the consistency of Daniel Hughes at the top. Can the Sixers make it a double derby wins this season?

Thunder had an awful season so far and the fact that they stand bottom of the ladder is a testimony of that. The Champions have very slim chances of qualifying for the knockouts and would do well only with a win. The way they won their last match against Hurricanes is a positive sign, though. Watch out for James Vince who could prove to be their difference.

TIP: Thunder to Win – $2.10 at William Hill

Perth Scorchers vs Melbourne Stars at WACA (Jan 14, 6:15pm local)

The Scorchers have been one of the most consistent sides of the season so far and are top of the ladder with eight points. The win against Heat in the last round highlights their strength. Michael Klinger looks to have settled down into a nice rhythm while Tim Bresnan is a wonderful replacement.

But don’t count the Stars out yet who have six points from five games – having played a game less than everyone else. Ben Hifenhaus’ heroics with the bat earned them a win in the last round and the quality in their side makes them one of the dangerous sides.

TIP: Stars to Win – $2 at William Hill

Adelaide Strikers vs Melbourne Renegades at Adelaide Oval (Jan 16, 7:10pm local)

Both teams are desperate for points and that makes this game a virtual knockout. Strikers are over-reliant on Ben Dunk and Brad Hodge and that’s showing in their performances. Ish Sodhi though, looks to be a great replacement coming at this stage.

Renegades will have to quickly overcome the disappointment of losing a high-scoring thriller to the Hurricanes. Aaron Finch is answering his non-selection for the ODIs in the best way possible while Tom Cooper and Sunil Narine are pitching with their efforts. Can the Renegades be the first to move up from the bottom pile?

TIP: Renegades to Win $1.80 at bet365

Melbourne Stars vs Brisbane Heat at MCG (Jan 17, 7:40pm local)

Stars will play their second match of the round and could well settle their fortunes. Rob Quiney is playing the best cricket of his BBL career while the return of Peter Handscomb eased some of their worries. But can the Stars conjure something to continue their run?

Heat are yet to come out of their loss of Chris Lynn to national duty – which clearly showed in their last round loss to Scorchers. Much will depend on guys like Alex Ross to shore up their batting. Joe Burns deserves to play more overs and could be in for a batting promotion.

TIP: Heat to Win
