2016-17 Big Bash League Round 6 Betting Tips
After five rounds of BBL06 the English imports have finished their Big Bash League engagements and the replacements are ready to fill their gap. Round 6 is looking to excite, so don’t miss our betting tips and preview!
Sydney Sixers vs Melbourne Renegades at SCG (Monday Jan 9, 7:40 PM local)
The Sixers have had an interesting season so far, alternating wins and losses. With three victories, they sit third on the table and have a decent crack at making to the knockouts. Sam Billings’ replacement Colin Munro will not be available for this clash, but the form of Daniel Hughes at the top is a huge plus.
The Renegades are also following the same blueprint of alternating wins. A positive start to the season has been offset by a heavy derby loss to the Stars on Saturday. The only upside is the continuation of Aaron Finch who has missed the bus for ODIs. Thisara Perera joins as replacement for Dwayne Bravo. Can the Renegades bounce back? We think so.
Tip: Renegades to win
Melbourne Stars vs Adelaide Strikers at MCG (Tuesday Jan 10 7:40 PM local)
The Stars’ campaign got back on track with a heavy win over Renegades in Round 5. Rob Quiney is proving that T20 is an old-man’s game, while the return to form of Kevin Pietersen is a huge bonus. Will they rise above the loss of Maxwell to national duty?
The Strikers had a not-so-great start, but a win in the last round over the Hurricanes may have come at just the right moment. Ben Dunk’s belligerence and Brad Hodge’s cool head are vital for the Strikers who will nevertheless miss their strike bowler Billy Stanlake. It’s time for others to rise to the occasion if the Strikers are any chance of going further in the BBL06 season.
Tip: Stars to win
Brisbane Heat vs Perth Scorchers at the Gabba (Wednesday Jan 11, 6:40 PM local)
The Heat are one of the form teams of the season, losing just once in five games. But superstar Chris Lynn will be out on national duty and it would be interesting to see how well they can cope without him. Tymal Mills will make his debut replacing Samuel Badree. Watch out for the extra pace from the left-arm seamer!
The Scorchers have been consistent too and have notched up three wins from five matches. But their last game was a heavy loss to the Heat with Lynn and McCullum leading the destruction. With Mitchell Marsh and Ian Bell leading the charge with the bat, Scorchers need to be a little more consistent with the ball. If they can plug that hole, they are a real chance to string together some solid wins.
Tip: Scorchers to win
Melbourne Renegades vs Hobart Hurricanes at Etihad (Thursday Jan 12, 6:40 PM local)
The Renegades will play their second game in four days and will be eager to gatecrash into the top four. Sunil Narine and Brad Hogg remain one of the awe-inspiring spin-duo, but the bigger question is if Finch’s men can be consistent enough to take advantage of these two?
The Hurricanes aren’t yet in desperation zone, but with just two wins out of five, they are in need of some inspiration. They are over-dependent on Tim Paine and D’Arcy Short with the bat, while Dan Christian bares the most weight with the ball. Can they find a way to ignite their campaign?
Tip: Hurricanes to win
