BBL06 round 4
New Year is round the corner and the Big Bash League is ready to welcome 2017 with a dash of brilliant action. We look at what’s in store for us in the Fourth Round of BBL06 action!

Perth Scorchers vs Sydney Thunder (Jan 1, 6:15pm local)

Ever-green favourites to do well in BBL, the Scorchers have four points from three games. Ian Bell looks to have settled into the team well while the Mitchells – Johnson and Marsh – are leading the bowling department pretty well in tandem with David Willey. Losing Ashton Agar to national duty may not hamper them much too!

Champions Thunder, on the other hand are struggling in all departments. With no points from three matches they are fast moving into ‘desperate for a win’ zone. With the exception of last game against Strikers, they lost their matches comprehensively. And against Strikers, they had a night to forget with their fielding. Can Shane Watson find a way to inspire his team?

Hobart Hurricanes vs Adelaide Strikers (Jan 2, 7:10pm local)

The Hurricanes had a blazing start with a comprehensive win against Sixers but then slumped to two consecutive losses. The form of Tim Paine is a huge boost but the form of star-man Kumar Sangakkara is a worry. With the ball too, Stuart Broad and Shaun Tait are struggling for consistency and control. Will they be able to find a solution to their worries?

The Strikers are yet another team searching for a win (at the time of writing, before their game against Sixers). Batting looks a worry with just Brad Hodge looking the part. Much was expected of Kieron Pollard and Jake Lehmann and both have been struggling so far. Can they spice up their performances and find a way to win?

TIP: Strikers to Win

Brisbane Heat vs Sydney Sixers (Jan 3, 6:10pm)

One of the teams to beat this season so far, isn’t it! The Heat have made the best use of having Brendon McCullum, Chris Lynn and Alex Ross at the top. With the ball, Badree is his usual frugal self and Heat look well balanced to continue the juggernaut.

The Sixers aren’t doing bad either – just one loss from their opening three matches (before their game against Strikers on 31st December). Sam Billings is a cracker of a buy as they are quickly realizing while Johan Botha is one of the best in this format. Can they be the first to inflict defeat on Heat this season?

TIP: Sydney Sixers to Win – $2.07 at Sportsbet

Sydney Thunder vs Melbourne Stars (Jan 4, 7:10pm local)

The Thunder will finish their second game in four days and will have more pressure – in case they don’t win on New Year Day. All they need is a morale boosting win and one of their talismans – Watson or Russell – to fire.

The Stars started their campaign perfectly with a win over Hurricanes. Their derby against the Renegades on New Year Day may not change their outlook for this game as everyone contributed for the win. With KP set to return, the Stars can only get stronger.

TIP: Melbourne Stars to Win
