2016-17 A-league Round 2 Betting Multi
The 2016-17 A-league season continues this weekend and we will be looking to take advantage of a couple of well priced favourites to boost our odds and secure a great multi for round 2 of the competition.
To kick things off we will be backing Adelaide United to increase the woes of Western Sydney Wanderers and their coach Tony Popovic. The Wanderers got off to the worst possible start as they were thrashed 4-0 by crosstown rivals Sydney FC. Popovic brought in an entirely new team for the second time in as many years and it has started out in similar fashion. The team will need time to gel but if there is one fan group that isn’t patient and they will want results soon. The Wanderers reached the grand final last year but if there were first performance is anything to go by then they won’t be making it in back-to-back seasons. Meanwhile the Reds were able to grab a draw on the road against the Jets in a match that didn’t rich any great heights. They were able to overcome an early deficit and we are predicting the side to put together a strong performance on home soil.
In our second leg we will be predicting Sydney FC to make easy work of the Central Coast Mariners. The Sky Blues struggled to score goals last year and that ultimately led to the side missing out on the finals series. However, that wasn’t an issue on the weekend as they created a lot of opportunities and put four past the Wanderers. Their defence looked as solid as it did last season and the Sky Blues were by far the best side in the opening round of the competition. Mariners fans would be forgiven for turning off their televisions after their first half performance against the Glory as they went into the break down 3-0. However, the side put together a huge fight back and managed to earn a draw. It is a huge result for the young side and could be signs that they are growing – but we don’t think that is the case and instead the Mariners are in for a long night against Sydney FC.
The third leg will see us predicting a draw in the Melbourne derby. It will be the first time these two sides will play in Melbourne this season and we believe there will be a huge crowd turning up for this match. Neither side was able to stamp their claim as to why they are favourites to win the premiership in the preseason as Melbourne City grabbed a 1-0 win against the Phoenix. Their attack wasn’t as slick as we thought it would be but it will be boosted this weekend with Tim Cahill making his A-league debut. Meanwhile the Victory were outclassed by the Roar on the road and they were lucky to take the lead after Matt Mackay was sent from the field for a second yellow card. However, they weren’t able to capitalise on that as they allowed the Roar to score with the last kick of the game to split the points. It will be a tight contest with neither side wanting to lose this one and we believe that their will be late drama like always but the sides will settle for a draw.
In our final leg we will be predicting the Brisbane Roar to earn the points against the Newcastle Jets on the road. The Jets were able to grab an early lead against the Reds on the weekend but that was as good as it got for the side as they failed to apply any pressure after that. The Jets had a tumultuous offseason and they will be desperate to put that behind them with a win in front of their home fans on the weekend but we don’t think it will happen. The Roar were the better side against the Victory and controlled the majority of the game and created the better opportunities. They weren’t able to find the back of the net until the end of the game but we believe they will get more clear cut chances this weekend and they will be able to finish them off and earn a comfortable win.
