The 2016-17 A-league season continues this weekend and we take a look at Round 19 to produce the best value multi for the weekend.
To kick things off we will be backing Sydney FC to bounce back from their draw and return to winning ways against the Wellington Phoenix on Thursday night. The Sky Blue are undefeated throughout the opening 18 rounds of the season and they are searching for the perfect status with eight rounds to go. They are facing Wellington Phoenix on home soil, a side that has struggled on the road this year and in general. They have the second fewest goals scored this season and that is troubling signs as they come up against the best defence. The Phoenix won’t be able to break the strong defensive structure of Sydney FC as their opponents cruise to earning the three points.
In our second leg we will be taking Perth Glory to defeat Adelaide United on the road. The Reds may have the home field advantage but we think it is ridiculous they are favourites heading into this one. They have just two wins to their name in the opening 18 games of the year and despite the Glory’s inconsistencies, they are still the far more superior side. They earned the win last weekend against the Glory to push themselves back into a finals spot but they had to do it the hard way as they continued to allow the Jets back into the match. The Reds suffered a loss against the Mariners in a battle of the bottom clubs and it has seen them fall five points behind ninth spot on the ladder. This should be an easy win for the Glory as they look to cement their spot in the knockout stage.
For the third leg of our multi we will be backing a draw against the Newcastle Jets and the Melbourne Victory. The Jets will remember their controversial loss against the Victory a little over a month ago and they will want revenge. They showed great character last week to fight back into their match against the Glory and we are predicting them to give it their all in this one. Meanwhile the Victory will enter this match on the back of a controversial win against crosstown rivals City. It was a draining match and we expect the side to slip in the final stages of this contest and it will open the door for the home side to grab a vital point.
In our final leg of A-league round 19 action, we are predicting the Western Sydney Wanderers to hold off the Central Coast Mariners at home. The Wanderers will enter the game full of confidence after a 3-1 victory against the Phoenix in Wellington on the weekend. It could be a sign of things to come for the Wanderers as they were finally able to capitalise on all of their opportunities created and not settle for a draw. They have nine draws to their name this season. The Mariners have bounced back strong over the last two weeks to move from the bottom of the ladder. They grabbed back-to-back victories and will be searching for a third. However, their lack of experience will prove the difference in this one as the Wanderers will prevail.
