BBL06 Round 2

The Big Bash is up and running and we move into the second round of fixtures starting from Friday, December 23. We look at what’s in store for us with our BBL06 Round 2 betting tips

Perth Scorchers vs Adelaide Strikers at The WACA (Dec 23, 6:15 PM local)

One of the most successful franchisees in BBL history kick-off their campaign with this clash against Strikers. Adam Voges still remains at the helm and his calm demeanor is a huge asset. Mitchell Johnson will be making his long-awaited BBL debut while the presence of Ian Bell and David Willey gives them experience and balance.

Adelaide Strikers didn’t have the best of starts losing to Brisbane Heat by ten runs in their season opener. Jake Weatherald had a scorching debut and Ben Dunk looked his usual aggressive self but their batting failed to score vital runs down the order. It looks just a matter of time before they click as a unit and get going.

Tip: Strikers to win

Hobart Hurricanes vs Melbourne Stars at Blundstone Arena (Dec 26, 7:10 PM local)

Hurricanes would play their second match in three days and the result in the match against Sixers could be vital in this build up. They look thin on batting unless Kumar Sangakkara is looking to avenge the scars of last season. Tim Paine becomes vital once more for them, as does Stuart Broad.

Stars will look to go one step better than last year though they lose Peter Handscomb to national duties, it may not hamper them much. David Hussey and KP remain the big bets with the bat while in Adam Zampa they have a match winner with the ball.

The Stars have enough fire power to pocket a win on Boxing Day.

Sydney Sixers vs Perth Scorchers at the SCG (Dec 27, 7:10 PM local)

Sixers had a great start to their campaign with a comprehensive derby win on the opening day. Moises Henriques led with the bat with Daniel Hughes playing a vital role. Death bowling still remains an issue, though.

Scorchers will be playing their second game in four days and would be looking for a stronger start. In case they lose their opener to Strikers, there would be additional pressure to improve their performances and fortunes. Knowing their track record in BBL, the Scorchers would settle for nothing less than a win in this encounter.

Tip: Scorchers to win

Sydney Thunder vs Brisbane Heat at Spotless Stadium (Dec 28, 7:10 PM local)

The defending Champions didn’t have a great start to the campaign losing to Sixers. They are still hampered by the absence of Australian regulars which could prove to be their handicap once again.

Heat had a rollicking start with a win against Strikers. Batting looks solid with the presence of Brendon McCullum, Chris Lynn and Alex Ross. Bowling is a slight concern but as long as Samuel Badree continues to stifle opponents, they look safe.

Tip: Heat to win
