The 2015-16 NBA Finals series will be a rematch of last year, as the Western Conference’s Golden State Warriors will be defending their crown against the Eastern Conference’s Cleveland Cavaliers. Find our NBA Finals series betting tips below.

Golden State Warriors (1 West) vs Cleveland Cavaliers (1 East)

The Warriors claimed the championship last season in six games against the Cavs as they won the title on Cleveland’s home court. However, it will be a different team they are facing this year as Tyronn Lue is now the coach and the Cavs have the luxury of being fully healthy this time around. Last season they were forced to play without point guard Kyrie Irving and power forward Kevin Love. This put a lot of pressure on Lebron James to produce massive performance’s in every match and ultimately he ran out of gas and was unable to carry Cleveland to its first NBA title. This time around the workload will be a lot less and James can pick and choose when he wishes to involve himself in the contest. Meanwhile Irving is another attacking threat as he has the ability to drop a large amount of points and he has scored over 20 points in every playoff game this season except for one. Meanwhile Love has the ability to spread the floor as a big man and has been knocking down the three ball at a consistent rate whilst he will be battling for rebounds against Draymond Green.

However, the negatives of these two players is that they are not renowned for their defensive play and this could hurt the Cavaliers because if they switch off for just a couple of possessions, the Warriors have the ability to stretch a lead quickly and win a game in a matter of minutes.

The Warriors reached the Finals after going through a tough series against the Thunder. They were trailing 3-1 and were required to win the last three games or they would be eliminated from the playoffs. The defending champions rallied and were able to become the 10th team in NBA history to overcome a 3-1 deficit. Golden State were able to do this on the back of MVP Stephen Curry recapturing his best form whilst Draymond Green put his form slump behind him. Klay Thompson has been consistent throughout the playoffs and was the vocal point for the side whilst Curry was sidelined for the majority of the first two rounds of the playoffs with injury. Thompson had a massive performance in Game 6 of the Thunder series as he dropped 41 points and hit 11 three pointers. The shooting guard will be facing a weaker defensive opponent in JR Smith and he will need to defend well on the perimeter against the Cavaliers sharp shooter.

The Cavaliers were a dominant force from the three-point line to reach the finals and they will need to continue that success to stand a chance in this series. The Warriors had a massive advantage from three-point territory against the Thunder and it is ultimately what got them the series victory. If the Cavaliers can knock down shots then this will create space for Lebron James and Kyrie Irving to drive to the rim and take advantage of easier points within the paint whilst creating the Warriors defence to collapse and therefore allow for more option shots for the Cavaliers knock down shooters.

The Warriors will have the massive advantage of having four matches on their home court. As Curry, Thompson and Green have finally found the form they showed in the regular season, we believe they will come out with a big start and a lot of energy in the opening two games of the series, especially after giving up home court advantage early in the Thunder series. The Cavaliers will put up a fight throughout this series but if the Warriors hold their own court, we believe they can steal one on the road and wrap this series up in five games.

TIP: Warriors 4-1 @ $4.25 with William Hill

Last season it was Andre Iguodala that was crowned the Finals MVP after his great defensive job on Lebron James whilst he averaged a high amount of points, rebounds and assists. This year with Kevin Love back in the line up, we are predicting that Draymond Green will be required to defend against both Love and James. Green has been in the top three for defensive player of the year for the last two seasons and he will do a great job against both of these players whilst he is a vocal point on the Warriors offence as he is a main distributor whilst when he gets it going he can be an offensive weapon. Green has the ability to record triple doubles and have an impressive stat sheet and this could contribute to him be awarded with the 2016 NBA Finals MVP award.
