2015 Rugby World Cup Tips: Australia Vs. Uruguay
The 2015 Rugby World Cup campaign continues for Australia as they take on Uruguay in their second pool game at Villa Park, Birmingham. This Pool A game will kick off at 9:00pm AEST on Sunday, 27th September.
This is the second game for both sides. Australia got their campaign off to a winning start by defeating Fiji 28-13. Uruguay, on the other hand, lost their first match very badly to Wales 54-9 which also meant that Wales got a bonus point. With England also picking up a bonus point, the onus would be firmly on Wallabies to pick up a bonus point in this game.
The Fiji game was a mix of both good and bad for the Wallabies. The first half showed the breathtaking ability of the Wallabies to aggressively push Fiji. They showed great tactical awareness and were just about proving why they were considered as one of the tournament favourites.
But the second half was equally bad as the Aussies couldn’t close out Fiji and let them crawl back to a decent score. There was a chance to garner a bonus point which also didn’t materialize. This may yet become very crucial in the final analysis considering England and Wales are next up for the Wallabies.
Uruguay returned to the grand stage of World Cup and actually led Wales 6-0 before everything tapered off. The final score didn’t do justice to the effort of the South Americans, but they did nothing to stop the marauding Wales in the later parts of that game.
In the history of their eight RWC matches, Uruguay have been able to tally just 10 tries which indicates their Achilles’ heel. Even in the game against Wales, it was just fly-half Felipe Berchesi who accounted for all nine points – all from penalties.
For the Aussies, the whole squad is revamped with just Dean Mumm surviving from the Fiji game. It is easy to count this as the second string side but there are enough quality players to win this game easily.
This will be the first encounter between these two sides but there is no indication that Uruguay will be able to give the Wallabies a tough fight. The question will always be if Australia garners a bonus point and the winning margin. Expect them to win by a big margin and Australia at the -62.5 line at $1.92 at CrownBet looks the best play.
