NRL Finals

After two big weekends of finals football, we’ve made it to the final stretch. On Saturday night the Melbourne Storm will host the North Queensland Cowboys in a all or nothing fight to the Grand Final – and we will explore who we think will take out the game in our NRL betting tips article.

Head-to-head the Storm are clearly the more dominate side. In the 29 games these two teams have played the Storm have notched up a massive 20 victories, Including a 14-6 win in round 25 this season.

Looking at the last 5 rounds its clear these teams know how to win. The Cowboys in particular have won three of their last five – and when they win they win big. They took down the Sharks last week, the Titans and the Warriors before the end of the season and all by a stunning average margin of 34 points. Storm, however, have won four of their last five and just enjoyed a week off after beating the Roosters two weeks ago.

For many this looks like the Kobayashi Maru of games for the Storm. Despite their win in round 24, everyone seems to be favouring the Cowboys to win and proceed to their first Grand Final.
But like Captain Kirk, Storm Coach Craig Bellamy always has something up his sleeve. This season Storm’s success has come on the back of some impressive defence. Its been getting increasingly harder for teams to break the Storms defences. Over the last five games the Storm have only conceded 8 tries and gained victories over teams like the Roosters, the Broncos and the Cowboys.

With only a position swap between Jordan McLean and Tim Glasby, the Storm have named the same side that defeated the Rooster two weeks ago. one concern is Marika Koroibete who is suffering from an achilles injury, He has been named subject to passing a Fitness test. If he is unable to take the field Young Tonumaipea will likely take his place on the wing.

The Cowboys are high on confidence after winning last week against the Sharks. The 39-0 belting the Cowboys gave the sharks is just what they need to travel to Melbourne and face the Storm once again. As with the Storm, the Cowboys are sticking with what works and have named an unchanged lineup. Last week Michael Morgan was phenomenal. He played just 66 minutes but managed to score two tries, move the ball one hundred metres and three line breaks. JT was on fire last week, clearly coming out of his slump. He will need to produce again this week if the visitors expect to put un a fight.

This one will be one of the best games of the season. Storm at home are always thought to beat and the Cowboys pushing for their first Premiership. The Cowboys’ attack, the Storm defend – the Perfect match. The way we see it, This one will be super close. but simply put the Storm should defend their way in the the Grand Final.
