2015/16 NBA Betting Tips – February 3
Here’s our NBA betting preview for Wednesday’s small slate of games. The early $1.95 lines at William Hill and Centrebet continue to offer up situations where we can secure prices over the closing lines. Make sure you always shop around and get every inch possible by using a few different bookmakers. Grabbing that extra one or two percent each time can be the difference between thousands at the end of the year for even moderate level punters. Don’t sell yourself short!
Boston @ New York – 11:30am AEDST
Atlantic Division rivals face off with some playoff implications on the line. We are a long way out but with just seven wins separating third and 13th in the Eastern Conference every game is important. The Celtics have won seven of their past 10 while the Knicks have lost seven of their last 10. Injuries have played a part but there is no doubting that the New York Knicks are ‘wobbling’.
Keep an eye out for Jae Crowder who has been the unsung hero this year in Boston. Thomas has been instrumental with his scoring but Crowder is as good a glue guy as you’ll find and does so many things fundamentally well. He comes in under a slight injury cloud but we do expect him to play. The young Boston guards in Thomas, Bradley and Smart should relish this encounter and we expect them to get the job done.
Suggested bet: Boston -2 @ $1.95 at William Hill
Confidence level: 80%
Milwaukee @ Portland – 2:00pm AEDST
This will be a fun game for sure. Milwaukee have a ton of exciting guys to watch and the Portland backcourt duo of Lillard and McCollum are as exciting as any guard combo not named Curry and Thompson. The Bucks are on night two of a road trip and have also dropped their past three games. The Blazers on the other and are riding a four game streak after sneaking past the Timberwolves on Sunday.
We like the match-up here however for the Bucks and think they can go close to stealing this game at the juicy odds of $3.40 at William Hill. The line looks two points too high and is worth a bite if you’d prefer to take the points. The Bucks should relish playing against a Portland team who concede on average 102.3 points per game, a mark Milwaukee struggle to reach normally.
Suggested bet: Milwaukee +7 @ $1.95 at William Hill
Confidence level: 70%
Minnesota @ Los Angeles Lakers – 2:40pm AEDST
The two worst teams in the West (record wise) face off in the LA late game. The Timberwolves however are a better basketball team right now. They’ve struggled to close out games due to some inexperience but good things are happening at the Den. Zach Lavine is showing signs of fulfilling his crazy high potential and Karl Anthony-Towns is a flat out star.
The Lakers have lost their past 10 matches and have only won three games from 32 attempts against Western Conference teams. They score the third least amount of points in the league (95.8 per game) and yet concede the fourth most (106.2 per game) – they are comically bad! Minnesota are slightly better on both metrics and we think their young studs will relish the chance to beat up on this bad Laker team.
Suggested bet: Minnesota -4 @ at William Hill
Confidence level: 80%
