2016 NBA betting

A huge day of NBA action this Thursday, February 25 (AEDT) and a handful of games have really taken our fancy, so read on for our best NBA betting tips listed below!

Golden State @ Miami – 11:40am AEDT

The Warriors are as good as any NBA team we’ve ever had the pleasure of watching. The scary thing is, they seem to get even better! They should be able to beat the Eastern Conferences third best team (record wise) comfortably but the spread seems pretty accurate and we are more interested in the points total.

Miami are one of the best defensive teams in the East and only concede a conference best 96.5 points per game. That’s much less than the Warriors average 115 per game. That’s because they play at such a slow tempo (2nd slowest in the NBA) and at times make Basketball look rather boring. They stifle teams and their veteran squad executes well. They’ll keep it close enough that the Warriors don’t run up a score and this game should go under.

Suggested bet: Under 214.5 points $1.91 @ Bet365
Confidence level: 75%

Oklahoma City @ Dallas – 12:10pm AEDT

This will be a fun game to watch with 216 points in the game predicted by our model. OKC are 10 wins above the Mavericks in the standings and they are clearly a better team on both ends of the floor. We also really like how they match-up against the Mavericks. Rick Carlisle really has no obvious player on his roster to guard Kevin Durant who we expect to have a strong game. Westbrook will have his way with just about anyone in the league not named Curry and Serge Ibaka has the versatility to guard Nowitzki inside and out.

We assessed this to be a seven point win to the Thunder and happy to take them to cover the spread in early markets. Dallas are limping along (four wins in their last 10) and now have a negative points differential at -0.4. OKC on the other hand are +7.5 on the season!

Suggested bet: OKC -4.5 $1.95 @ William Hill
Confidence level: 80%

Los Angeles Lakers @ Memphis – 12:10pm AEDT

The Grizzlies made an interesting trade deadline move by bringing Lance ‘The 8th Grader’ Stephenson to Tennessee in exchange for Jeff Green. Unlike most people we think the Griz will benefit from this deal more than the Clippers will by acquiring Green. Memphis are an elite home team and despite Marc Gasol’s season ending injury they’ll continue to be a tough out at home.

The Lakers are a rabble and have by far the worst points differential in the Western Conference at -9.5. They are 5-28 on the road this season and have only won twice against teams with a record above .500. Memphis should win this one by double-digits even without Marcy Marc Gasol.

Suggested bet: Memphis -8 $1.95 @ William Hill
Confidence level: 75%
