Spurs vs Arsenal
A confident Tottenham Hotspur will welcome a fragile Arsenal in the English Premier League for a very important north London derby. This match will be played at the White Hart Lane on Saturday, March 5.

In a competitive league, it is difficult to ignore any opponent with every game falling under the definition as a “must-win”. This derby is a genuinely massive game for both sides albeit for different reasons. For the first time in many years London’s biggest rivalry will have an impact on the title race.

Tottenham missed a chance to go top of the league when they lost to West Ham United midweek. It is a testimony to their strong season they still are just three points from the leaders Leicester City. However, they come into this game knowing that any further loss of points would be fatal to their title chances.

The recent form of Spurs has been very impressive – six successive league victories prior to West Ham’s loss. They are near invincible at home too, winning four of their last five league games. Having played the role of a traditional underdog and eternal bridesmaid to Arsenal, Tottenham believe that they have a great chance to put a dagger across their city rivals if they can win this game.

Arsenal fans love mocking their neighbours and their recent advantage over Tottenham led to the creation of “St Totteringham’s Day” – a point at which Spurs could no longer finish above Arsenal in the league. The tables have turned this year and Arsenal could well finish below Spurs – and the Gunners’ deterring mindset has a huge role to play. If anything, they are fighting to be casted in a Shakespearean tragedy by continuously ambushing their own hopes of glory.

Consecutive losses to Manchester United and Swansea have cast a shadow of doubt over the title credentials of Arsenal – not that they were confident themselves. Arsene Wenger is struggling to imbibe a killer mentality – something which he has always been criticized of. At least on paper and recent form, the visitors start the derby as an underdog and they have so much to prove.

Conventional logic points to Arsenal but recent form puts Spurs as the favourite. It could be a very tight game and don’t rule out a draw @ 3.25 with Sportsbet

Unlike any other derby, there is not just bragging rights that’s on offer this weekend. Spurs would like to record a victory and increase their chances of winning the title. Anything less than a win and Wenger can begin writing his title adieu speech. No wonder this game is touted as the biggest-ever north London derby.
