Man City Arsenal EPL

Leicester City have managed to win the English Premier League title, but there is life still left in the race for top-four. When Manchester City host Arsenal this Sunday (8th May) at the Etihad Stadium, the stakes will be high for both the sides.

The Gunners will be keen to stave off any doubts in regard to their Champions League qualification, while the Citizens would want to save themselves from that shame.

The hosts have seen their European hopes end with a loss to Real Madrid in the semi-finals of the Champions League. With bitter rivals Manchester United waiting to pounce on any points loss, this fixture gives City an added incentive of rubbing salt into the wounds of the Red Devils.

They may have lost their last match against Southampton very badly, but City were unbeaten in six games prior to that setback. They would be hampered by the absence of playmaker David Silva but Kevin De Bruyne should be back in action.

Arsenal have a chance of upstaging their North London rivals Tottenham Spurs for second place. The unpredictability of the season has been such that Arsenal could end up being as high as second or as low as fourth. Arsene Wenger must be feeling the heat of another barren season, with a section of supporters calling for his ousting.

Nevertheless, their recent domestic form has been brilliant with the Gunners unbeaten in their last eight league matches while keeping three clean sheets in the process. They have bowed out of title race but know very well that a win could save them from finishing lower than the Spurs.

Arsenal come into the game on the back of an unbeaten four-match run against City. The 2-1 win in the reverse fixture at the Emirates was signed off by goals from Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud. A lot has changed since, with Giroud going 15 league matches without scoring.

Both sides have had equally disappointing seasons bowing out of title race long back. The match still has some relevance in the final-four standings and no one would like to lose. Backing City to come out victorious – odds of 2.45 (CrownBet) – is an interesting punt although draw at odds of 3.5 (CrownBet) perhaps looks equally enticing considering the high stakes for both. Back Aguero and Welbeck to find the back of the net anytime of the match.
